In the summer of 1985, the town of Hawkins is buzzing with excitement as the kids enjoy their school break. However, a new threat emerges in the form of the Mind Flayer, a monstrous entity from the Upside Down that's manipulating a human host to carry out its evil plans.

The gang, now a bit older and more mature, faces new challenges as they try to balance their relationships and adolescence with the supernatural events unfolding around them. Eleven and Mike's relationship deepens, while Will struggles with feelings of being left out.

Meanwhile, a new shopping mall, Starcourt Mall, has become the central hub of Hawkins, and the kids find themselves Play Movie into its excitement. However, the Mind Flayer is using the mall's newfound popularity to further its own agenda.
